Oral Health
Research tells us that a significant number of children under 5 years, experience poor dental health. This is especially the case for rural areas. This results in cavities, various mouth diseases and nutritional deficiencies.
The Health Promotion team manages the “Smiles 4 Miles” Program for the region. This project aims to prevent poor oral health by improving prevention strategies, identification, referral and access to services. It involves working together early childhood and education staff to improve their skills and taking a whole of school approach to improving prevention.
