The Albury Wodonga Regional Food Security Network aims to facilitate and encourage an increase in household and community food security throughout the Upper Hume region by improving the:
* Physical availability of food: sufficient supply of nutritious, safe & acceptable food
* Economic and physical access to food: equality of access to food
* Food utilisation: food preparation, cooking and storage
The network is involved in a wide variety of community food security projects including nutrition education, community gardens, community kitchens, farmers markets and emergency food relief.
One project the network is involved in is the Street Harvest Project which rescues excess fruit and vegetables from residential gardens and redistributes it locally amongst the community to those in need. http://vrfb.com.au/rural-support/street-harvest
